Since 1994, Alexandre Romanès has been directing the first Gypsy circus:
The Romanès Circus. Between his career of lion tamer, lute player,
tightrope walker and poet, he created this community of nomadic artists who live together in caravans.
Close to Porte Maillot, this large family represents a subtle blend of grace, colors, dances, smiles and humor.
Despite its international recognition, the circus is today victim of racism and suffers financial problems.
As he happens to say, “If you don't like me anymore, I would throw myself out the window of my caravan.”
